It all started in a small town in ๐๐ณ๐ช๐ป๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ข ๐ตโฃโฃ

We both grew up in the ๐ด๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ ๐ต๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฏ of Fountain Hills nestled into the the east valley of Phoenix. We met in high school when Brittani was a freshman and Adam a junior. We dated briefly in HS but it wasn’t until ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ when we really connected ๐ฅฐโฃโฃ

We saw each other at a ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ๐๐๐ง party and the rest is history. Okay, well it’s not that simple because no love story is...๐ณ๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐ต? ๐โฃโฃ

Arizona is and will always be special to us because it’s where we both ๐จ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ธ ๐ถ๐ฑ, began dating, ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ช๐ฏ together for the first time, got engaged and ultimately left for our first “๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐” together...โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

In ๐๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ธ๐ถ๐ท๐ป, we left AZ as Brittani became a travel nurse. When we left we had no idea what places we would get to travel to, how long we would travel around for, or where (if anywhere) we would ultimately “๐ฑ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ต ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ต๐ด.” We honestly, weren’t huge travelers at this point in our lives so we thank this time for introducing us to the nomad life!โฃ

We ended up traveling to ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ different cities during our travel nursing time. Each assignment is ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ meaning we picked up and moved quite often. We also made sure to always take several weeks off in between assignments to visit friends and family and to adventure around the US. โฃ

All of the places we got to call “๐ต๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ข๐ณ๐บ ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฆ” allowed us to continue to grow our love for traveling and experiencing new places ๐๐ปโฃ

But our winter spent in Denver ended up keeping us around for three years! We loved the mountains and experiencing all 4 seasons. We lived in the RiNo neighborhood for most of it and enjoyed walking to eateries, breweries and Coors Field anytime we wanted! โฃ

It’s ironic looking back now, because almost immediately after deciding to plant ourselves in Denver is when we began to ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ฆ about living in a van.โฃ

It was a glorious day in May of 2017 and we were in….โฃ
H O N E Y M O O N • B L I S S
โฃFor many couples a honeymoon is filled with dreams of babies ๐ถ๐ป , houses ๐ก , puppies ๐ถ but our honeymoon inspired us to continue to live a life of travel (๐ด๐ฐ๐ณ๐ณ๐บ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ฑ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ด!)โฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃFollowing the ๐ง๐ช๐ง๐ต๐ฉ & ๐ง๐ช๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ travel assignment in Denver, CO we jetted to Hawaii to get married in Maui and spent ๐ ๐ฐ๐๐๐ค๐ฌ exploring all ๐ of Hawaii’s main ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐๐โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

Our mission while we were there was to experience ev.ery.thing we could…โฃโฃโฃโฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ
We cliff dove the southern most point of the US, went ATVing where Jurrasic Park was filmed, tubed the canals of Kauai, slid down a sugar cane waterway, experienced black, green, & gold sand beaches, sailed the NaPali coast, snorkeled Molokini crater, biked downhill Haleakala after a sunrise, hiked to the lava flow at Volcanoes, drove the Road to Hana, experienced Waimea Canyon & hiked to dozens of waterfallsโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ
It truly felt surreal each day…so we began to dream about continuing to live a life that made us feel free, joyful and full of adventure ๐โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

On one of our final days, we sat at a beach watching dolphins in the distance and witnessed this group of people hanging out near a couple of vans. BOOM ๐ฅ๐กโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

“We could do that...”โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ
*insert pause as we both pondered it* ๐คโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

“๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐! ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐! ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐?!”โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

The seed was officially planted ๐ฑ And that seed grew & ๐จ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ธ & ๐๐๐๐ช! ๐ด Once we returned to the mainland & the honeymoon bliss faded away, neither of us could shake the feeling that one day we would live in a van ๐ โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

We both obsessively watched YouTube videos, followed others living in a van, researched how to make it happen and sustain it, scoured websites of builds and made lists of what we wanted๐ฉ๐ป๐ป๐ง๐ผ๐ปโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ
Our ideas and thoughts changed many times over the 2.5 years it took to officially make our #vanlife dream a reality. But the thing that never, EVER changed was our drive to make it happen which is why on November 18, 2019 we finally held the keys to our van… ๐โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃ

We wanted to share this part of our story because we know what it’s like to dream for a long time and start to feel like it might not happen. We hope to remind you to stay in your own lane, keep inching towards your goal, and never give up!โฃโฃโฃโฃ

We missed “deadlines” and failed forward. But we never gave in and gave upโฃโฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃ
In 2017, we mostly dreamt and talked about what living in a van would look like. We would randomly ask things while cooking dinner like “what do you think...fixed bed or convertible?”๐คโฃโฃโฃโฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃ
In 2018, we really bought into the idea and that we could make it happen. Did a lot more research, talked numbers and plans, etc. We also started to discuss our plan among friends and family (most of which thought we were nuts)โฃโฃโฃโฃ
โฃโฃโฃโฃ
And in 2019, we planned to make it all a reality in July because our lease was ending! Spoiler alert...we missed this deadline. And it was painful ๐ But missing it put fuel on the fire of our adventure seeking hearts! ๐ฅโฃโฃโฃโฃ

You want to see massive change? You have to take massive action.โฃโฃโฃโฃ

So, instead of signing another year lease on our apartment we signed for 6 months. This closely lined up with Brittani’s car lease ending. Which meant that at the end of January we would have nowhere to live and have one vehicle. Time to make sh*t happen!

As fall began and summer faded away we were ready to buy our van! We started to search DAILY. We scoured websites constantly for something in our price range that seemed like the perfect fit. We test drove a couple and even got ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ด๐ด๐ด๐ด close to purchasing one in early October

But on a random, wild Saturday night in November Brittani came across something. “Babe did you see this red Promaster on Craigslist?!...Is it a scam??” ๐๐งโฃโฃโฃโฃ

It was not.โฃโฃโฃ It was Clifford!๐ฅณโฃโฃโฃโฃ (Click here to see all about our van!)

We test drove it the next day, committed to purchasing and after a messy (& emotional) week of finalizing everything...โฃโฃโฃโฃ

We officially bought our first home/van && finally set off on our journey in February of 2020 ๐๐ฃ Follow our adventures as we seek to finish experiencing all 50 states and start to really dive into seeing all 62 National Parks on IG @fenimoresadventuremore!
